GolfThe Open Championship

Learn how the Ticket Ballot works for The Open Championship 2025 at Royal Portrush. Fair access for fans worldwide to golf’s original Major.

A Fair Way to Join Golf History

The Ticket Ballot is the primary and fairest way for golf fans to get their spot at The Open Championship 2025. This iconic event returns to Royal Portrush from July 13 to 20, bringing the world’s best players to Northern Ireland’s spectacular coastline. Demand always outstrips supply, so the ballot helps keep access fair and transparent for fans worldwide.

How the Ticket Ballot Works

The ballot is open exclusively to members of One Club, the free digital membership created to connect fans more closely to The Open. Here is how it works:

  • Fans aged 16 and older can apply during the ballot window. For 2025, the period ran from July 1 to July 31, 2024.
  • Applicants may request up to four tickets per day, mixing Adult, Youth (sixteen to twenty four), Junior (under sixteen, free), and Carer tickets.
  • Preferences can be selected and amended until the ballot closes at 15:00 BST on the final day.
  • Results are released in stages through August and September. Every applicant gets an answer by the end of September.
  • Successful applicants must purchase the full ticket package offered — partial buys are not allowed.
  • Tickets are digital and will be ready to download about four to six weeks before the Championship begins.
