Grandstand Guide: Best Views Around the Track

Main Grandstand

Location: Along the Start/Finish straight

This is the pulse of the circuit. From the build-up on the grid to the checkered flag and podium celebration, you’ll catch it all. Situated opposite the team garages and pit lane, this grandstand is ideal for watching strategy unfold in real time. You’re also steps away from top-tier food vendors and fan amenities.

Turn 1 Grandstand

Location: At the top of COTA’s dramatic hill into Turn 1

Arguably the most iconic view at COTA. The steep incline into a sharp left-hander creates a bottleneck where drivers battle for position right off the line. It’s chaotic, loud, and full of adrenaline. Expect incredible starts and overtakes here.

Turn 4 Grandstand

Location: Midway through Sector 1 in the high-speed esses

Great for capturing the rhythm and flow of F1 machinery through quick direction changes. With striking backdrops like the observation tower and Stars & Stripes run-off, it’s also a favorite for photographers. Three nearby big screens keep you connected to the full race.

Turn 6 Grandstand

Location: Inside the infield section of the circuit

A fresh addition to COTA’s viewing options, Turn 6 puts you right in front of the technical esses section modeled after Silverstone’s Maggots and Becketts. It’s immersive and a must-visit for fans who appreciate the art of cornering.

Turn 9 Grandstand

Location: Elevated and set further back from the track’s exterior

From this perch, you’ll enjoy sweeping views of the exit of Turn 7 through to the hairpin at Turn 11. It’s a strategic corner sequence, and the grandstand’s elevation offers fantastic perspective. A giant screen directly ahead helps follow the rest of the race.

Turn 12 Grandstand

Location: At the end of COTA’s longest straight

The heavy braking zone into Turn 12 is a prime overtaking spot. Higher rows offer panoramic views over much of the track. It’s also one of the closest seats to the F1 Fanzone, so you can easily enjoy off-track entertainment during downtime.

Turn 15 Grandstand

Location: Between Turns 12 and 16

This grandstand delivers a wide-angle view of three consecutive corners—perfect for watching tight battles and late-braking moves. You’re also just a short walk from the fan village, giving you easy access to food, drinks, and merchandise.

Turn 19 Grandstand

Location: Along the penultimate corner

A fast, sweeping left-hander leads drivers into the final straight, and this section can be crucial for setting up last-lap maneuvers. With nearby fan amenities and upgraded seating that includes seatbacks and cup holders, it’s both convenient and comfortable.

Summary

With its distinctive elevation changes, technical corner sequences, and vibrant fan atmosphere, Circuit of The Americas stands out as one of Formula 1’s most dynamic venues. Each grandstand offers a unique lens on the race—from the chaos of Turn 1 to the sweeping views at Turn 12—making COTA a destination that rewards every type of motorsport fan. The 2023 United States Grand Prix captured that spirit once again, and with American talent joining the grid, the energy around Austin only continues to grow. Whether you’re here for the spectacle, strategy, or speed, one thing is certain: there’s no place like COTA on race weekend.
